Our cable kits come with a variety of components to suit your batting cage installation needs. Regardless of whether your application is indoors or outdoors, hanging the cage from cables is our recommended installation method. This approach allows for flexibility, as you can easily slide the cage to the side to make room for other activities. It also results in a tidier, more box-like net with minimal sagging.

The cable kits we offer include the following: - 250 feet of 1/8", 3/16", or 1/4" cable - 50 or 75 carabiners, depending on the length of the cage - 12 cable clamps, matching the size of the cable - 3 or 6 eye/jaw turnbuckles, either 3/8" or 1/2"

When installing your batting cage using a cable kit, here are some tips to keep in mind: - Hang the cables 6-12 inches lower than the height of your cage, allowing a bit of net to pool on the floor to catch balls. - Anchor the cables to studs, headers, joists, or concrete walls using at least 5/16" diameter lag screws. Larger and longer screws are even better. Drilling all the way through the wall and using a bolt or long eyebolt with a large washer on the outside provides the strongest hold. - When securing lag screws into wood, pre-drill holes to the minor diameter of the thread, then grease or wax the screws to prevent the wood from splitting and reducing the holding power. - Use a cable hoist or ratcheting tie-down strap to apply tension to the cable before tightening the cable clamps. - If the 250-foot cable roll would be too short for your installation, consider getting a 500-foot roll instead. - Install the standard 3 turnbuckles on the wall opposite where you'll be storing the net when slid to one side. - When determining the supplies you need, use the working load limit, which is 1/5 of the breaking strength, to ensure a comfortable safety margin.

We recommend using a minimum 3/16" cable for nets over 55 feet or commercial applications, unless you're supporting it in the middle. 3/16" cable has over twice the tensile strength of 1/8" cable, resulting in less sag. 1/4" cable has almost twice the tensile strength of 3/16" cable.

All the cable kits and hardware mentioned can be found in the Jones Sports store on Amazon. Extra carabiners, clamps, turnbuckles, and eyebolts are also available in our Amazon store. Returned items may be subject to a 20% restocking fee.
